Film Processing: Quality versus Cost

Don't be fooled by websites offering E6 processing at cut rate prices.  "Getting what you pay for" is never more true than when purchasing film processing services.

Professional film processing involves the use of costly equipment, highly trained technicians, and tightly controlled chemistry, temperature and timing. These no-compromise investments in quality add to the cost of providing clean, dependable, consistent results.

When quality is important, the few additional dollars spent on professional quality processing is well spent.... there's no turning back when film is processed incorrectly.

Tight Process Control

Process control is at the heart of any professional film process service. Chemistry, temperature and other variables are constantly monitored to insure that critical aim points for color, density and contrast are met. Without tight process control, results would vary from day to day, even hour by hour. When consistency is important, there is no substitute for diligence in process control... the kind we practice at DigiGraphics.

Future of E6 Film Processing

While hundreds of labs have discontinued E6 processing over the past few years, DigiGraphics plans to process E6 for as long as there is sufficient need.

Accurate E6 processing requires a certain amount of volume in order to maintain chemical quality. DigiGraphics is fortunate to process a large volume of film from around the world, ensuring our ability to run a tight, accurate E6 line. Should volume decrease to a point where quality cannot be maintained, we will be forced to close the line. At current volume levels line closure appears to be a long way off. The best insurance against that happening is to continue sending your film to, and recommending, DigiGraphics.

Mail Order

We receive film for processing via mail order from across the nation. Prices for mail order processing are discounted to help offset the additional expense of shipping to and from DigiGraphics. There is no difference in the equipment, materials or procedures used. Mail orders should be accompanied by a completed Mail Order Form. We typically process and return-ship within 24 hours of receipt.
